Optimization Strategy for Combined Heat and Power Microgrids Considering Operational Constraints of Distributed Generators and Energy Storage

With the advancement of renewable energy and energy storage systems, microgrid scheduling strategies face both opportunities and challenges. In response, this paper proposes an optimization strategy for combined heat and power microgrids considering the operational constraints of distributed generators and the characteristics of energy storage systems. The strategy introduces heat storage to decouple the heat and power relationship of the combined heat and power system, removing the output constraints of microturbines and electric boilers and enhancing system flexibility. By optimizing the objective function to reduce both electricity and heating costs, the strategy lowers operational costs and improves system reliability. Additionally, this paper develops a scheduling model for a combined heat and power microgrid based on the proposed optimization strategy. Taking the classical grid-connected microgrid as an example, the CPLEX optimization software is used to solve the model and obtain the optimal total cost of the microgrid with the optimal output of each unit. The simulation results provide a comparative strategy assessment, offering insights into optimizing renewable energy utilization and heat and power scheduling.
