Analysis of Transient Analytical Method for Short-Circuit Current Calculation
Power systems are among the most extensive, largest, and most complex man-made systems globally. Ensuring safety, high quality, and economic efficiency are fundamental requirements for their operation. One of the most critical issues is the short-circuit fault, which can cause destructive currents that jeopardize system stability. The transient analysis method is vital for accurately calculating short-circuit currents, especially the initial transient value, which is crucial for the design and operation of power plants and substations. This method not only considers the reactance of electrical equipment but also includes resistance and the voltage coefficient of the equivalent voltage source, enhancing the precision of calculations. According to IEC 60909 and national standards, this method is recommended for designing power plants and substations, capable of calculating three-phase, two-phase, single-phase ground, and ground fault short-circuit currents effectively. This approach uses a numerical method based on linear algebraic equations and is endorsed by standards such as IEC 60909, GB/T 15544-1995, and DL/T 5163-2002, making it suitable for both domestic and international applications.
