Omnidirectional Mobile Grasping Robot Based on the VEX System

This paper proposes a cost-effective and highly flexible design for an intelligent omnidirectional mobile grasping robot based on the VEX system. The robot has three main components: an omnidirectional chassis, a roller suction cup, and a tracking wheel, enabling omnidirectional mobility, object grasping, and tracking functions. The structural design utilizes SolidWorks 2022 for three-dimensional simulation modeling and FDM 3D printing technology, effectively reducing manufacturing costs and improving design flexibility. The hardware system is based on VEX V5 series equipment, including a main control board, servo motors, infrared range-finders, visual sensors, and encoders. The software system adopts a PID control algorithm for precise motion control and object grasping. Experimental results demonstrate that the robot can effectively complete object grasping and transportation tasks, showing promising application prospects. The project in this paper is project 202410611376 supported by National Training Program of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Undergraduates.
