Performance Analysis of Artificial Magnetic Conductor(AMC) Based Multi-Band Antenna for Wireless Applications

A compact, efficient and easy to fabricate antenna integrated with Artificial Magnetic Conductor (AMC) is proposed. The objective of the proposed antenna is engineered to operate efficiently across multiple frequency bands(Sub 6GHz 5G bands), enhancing its versatility and suitability for modern wireless systems. The proposed antenna uses Artificial Magnetic Conductors (AMCs) to enhance Reflection coefficient, Size Reduction and Improving its performance. The proposed antenna can be potentially applied to the applications in WLAN, WiMAX, and 5G mobile communication system. The designed dual band microstrip patch antenna yields -17dB and-24dB at 2.4GHz and 5.46GHz respectively without Defective Ground Structure (DGS) and −11dB and −25dB at 2.4 GHz and 5.2 GHz respectively for the antenna with DGS. The antenna has been simulated among various configurations and their characteristics has been obtained. And also, the patch antenna with DGS has been fabricated and it shows a return loss of -37.47dB at 2.48GHz which is quite good.
