Effect of Transition to Impurity Continuum on Thermoelectric Properties of the Semiconductor $\left(\text{Bi}_{1-\mathrm{x}} \text{Sb}_{\mathrm{x}}\right)_{2} \text{Se}_{3}$ Solid Solutions
The dependences of thermoelectric parameters (the Seebeck coefficient <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$S$</tex>, electrical conductivity <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\sigma$</tex>, thermoelectric power factor <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$P$</tex>) and microhardness <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$H$</tex> on the composition of polycrystalline semiconducting (<tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\left.\text{Bi}_{1-\mathrm{x}} \mathbf{S b}_{\mathbf{x}}\right)_{2} \text{Se}_{3}$</tex> solid solutions (<tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$x=0-0.2$</tex>) were obtained at room temperature. It was shown that all measured parameters vary nonmonotonically, exhibiting two extrema in the range of composition <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$x=0-0.04$</tex>. At <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$x>0.04$</tex>, the dependences become monotonic: <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$H$</tex> and <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$S$</tex> increase, while <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\sigma$</tex> and <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$P$</tex> decrease. We explain the observed behavior of thermoelectric characteristics and microhardness by the existence of a transition of percolation type to impurity continuum and subsequent selforganization processes taking place in a solid solution with the possible formation of complexes and infinite cluster passing through them.
