Smart Incubator for Neonatal Care
Background: An important step toward bettering patient care has been taken with the growing prevalence of technology integration and healthcare. By proposing an affordable embedded control system designed for the ongoing monitoring of newborns, our study takes advantage of this integration. Our system allows for the real-time monitoring of neonatal vital signs to detect Jaundice and behaviours through the Combination of Sensors, Camera integration, Micro-processor technology, and the Internet of Things. This allows for the early detection of problems and proactive intervention. Methods: Noteworthy features of our system include data integration using a cloud storage platform by showing graphical data of temperature and humidity levels, detecting jaundice with the help of pulse rate and temperature and sending SMS Alerts to Clinicians and Caretakers. This capability empowers healthcare providers to remotely oversee infants in incubators, enabling swift responses to deviations in health indicators. Furthermore, our system incorporates innovative functionalities such as real-time camera access for visual monitoring and intelligent feeding alerts. Findings: By integrating camera access, caregivers can remotely observe neonatal movements, behaviours, and feeding sessions, fostering parental involvement and assurance. Additionally, intelligent feeding alerts ensure adherence to feeding schedules, meeting the nutritional requirements of infants promptly. By amalgamating temperature and vital parameter monitoring with real-time visual observation and feeding alerts, our system offers a comprehensive solution for neonatal care. Novelty and applications: This holistic approach equips caregivers with the necessary resources to deliver personalized care and intervention, ultimately enhancing the health and well-being of newborns. The seamless integration of technology into neonatal care not only improves patient outcomes but also enhances the overall efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare delivery in neonatal units.
