Selection of BESS Management Strategy and Capacity for Prosumer Microgrid Revenue

Due to the instability of renewable energy sources, it is difficult to maintain the sustainable operation of microgrids. Energy storage systems help to provide uninterrupted power supply to microgrids, but their integration faces the difficult task of determining the optimal parameters of energy storage systems. This study proposes a methodology for determining the optimal capacity of the energy storage system, taking into account various scenarios of the prosumer's microgrid operation to obtain maximum profit from working with the power grid. Two radically different scenarios for the operation of the prosumer's microgrid with the general power grid are considered. Where the scenarios are aimed at revenue from the maximum use of the solar generation system or the balanced use of all elements of the system. The paper considers a microgrid, on the example of a prosumer, which includes solar photovoltaic generation, a load profile, electricity storage systems and is connected to the power grid at a three-zone time of use tariff. To assess the effectiveness of these strategies, the analysis is carried out for two days for the winter season.
