Experimental study on the influence of intake air temperature on combustion and emission for Marine ammonia/diesel engine

As a carbon-free fuel, ammonia has been regarded to be a promising fuel for the internal combustion engine to achieve the goal of carbon neutral. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has identified ammonia as one of the main solutions for zero-carbon shipping. In this paper, the influence of intake air temperature on combustion and emission was studied based on a marine single-cylinder $\mathrm{NH}_{3} /$ diesel dual-fuel engine. The results showed that, with the increase of intake temperature, the ignition delay decreases, CA05 advances, and the pressure rise rate decreases, NH<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> emission is reduced while NOx emission is improved. As for the maximum pressure, combustion duration and thermal efficiency, there is no obvious change.
