Complex aortic reconstruction for a type IV midaortic syndrome
A 15-year-old male patient presented with renovascular hypertension, heart failure, and bilateral buttock and thigh claudication. He and his family consented to the publication of his case. Institutional review board approval was not required. Computed tomography aortogram demonstrated aortic hypoplasia spanning 6 cm distal to the left subclavian artery to the infrarenal aorta (IA) just above the inferior mesenteric artery (IMA), which was consistent with type IV midaortic syndrome.1 His symptoms were consistent with midaortic syndrome, although his superior mesenteric artery and celiac trunk stenoses were clinically silent.
