Synthesizing studies in the World and Vietnam as well as survey results on actual works show that it is possible to study the use of saline sand as aggregate for reinforced concrete structures in some specific conditions such as in places where clean sand is scarce or on remote islands, but must ensure the requirements for corrosion protection for reinforcement as well as the working conditions of the structure in the marine environment because the chloride content in sea sand is usually higher than the prescribed level. In this article, based on previous research results on sand classification according to chloride content, reinforcement coating solutions, corrosion inhibitors for concrete, experimental work of reinforced concrete beams with saline sand aggregate in the laboratory, a pilot application of saline sand as aggregate for reinforced concrete structures of the laboratory (Workers' Rest House with experimental work) at Vicosimex factory in Phong Binh commune, Phong Dien district, Thua Thien - Hue province has been carried out.
