Development of a Career Exploration Program for VR Designer, a Promising Future Career

Objectives The purpose of this study is to develop a career experience program that allows elementary school students to explore the emerging profession of VR designers and to evaluate and improve the program based on student satisfaction. Methods Using the ADDIE model, a systematic VR Designer Career Experience Program was developed for 3rd and 4th-grade elementary school students. The program was implemented with a total of 66 students (26 from grade 3 and 40 from grade 4) at D Elementary School. It was conducted over four 40-minute sessions. After the program, a survey was developed to analyze various factors, including interest in the content, understanding of the learning material, appropriateness of class pacing, student needs, satisfaction, and feedback or opinions. Results The VR Designer Career Experience Program effectively enabled students to understand virtual reality technology, design various environments using VR, and experience the basic roles and tasks of a VR designer. The program provided students with hands-on experience in VR content creation, enhancing their understanding of digital technologies and fostering their interest in career exploration.he program was applied to 66 students (four classes) from D Elementary School under the G Metropolitan Office of Education, including 26 third graders and 40 fourth graders. A satisfaction survey measured program-related variables. Students demonstrated high interest and satisfaction, with fourth graders showing greater engagement and a notable demand for more in-depth learning experiences. Conclusions Through the program, students learned the principles and applications of VR/AR technology and experienced designing and creating VR content on the theme of marine ecosystems using the CoSpaces platform. Students demonstrated high levels of interest and understanding, with consistent satisfaction across participants. They also expressed a desire to explore advanced technology fields such as VR and AI, with some requesting extended and more in-depth learning opportunities.
