Multibeam Performances of a Spherical Reflector with a Shaped Sub-reflector

The spherical reflector antenna is a promising antenna type for 5G and satellite communications due to its characteristics for good multibeam applications. To improve antenna efficiency, a shaped sub-reflector is designed. From possible antenna structures, a suitable antenna structure for multibeam applications is selected. Antenna electrical performances at 12.5GHz are obtained by FEKO EM Simulations. Antenna aperture distribution shows correctness at antenna structure. The best feed position for multibeam radiation performance is determined by focal region ray tracing. The result shows that multibeam radiation performances’ efficiency is 52% to 22% for beam shifts 0 degrees to 13 degrees.
