Microwave-based Hyperthermia system to evaluate Cell-Death in Breast Cancer
This article presents a microwave-based hyperthermia (HT) setup to evaluate the temperature profile distribution over a breast fat phantom and cellular death on spheroids of the line MCF-7. The setup is composed of an illumination system and a temperature measurement system that allows to characterize the process. Spheroids of the MCF-7 line were incubated, with a diameter of 0.5 cm. Cell death was evaluated at temperatures of 38, 41, 43 and 45 °C, achieving cell death by apoptosis in the last 2 cases.
