Effect of Indium Doping on Structural and Optical Characteristics of ZnO:In Nanoparticles

ZnO nanoparticles doped with In (0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, and 10 at. %) were synthesized using the polyol-colloid method, and the influence of doping on their chemical composition, morphological, structural, and substructural characteristics was studied. It has been established that up to an In concentration of 2 at. %, the nanoparticles have a single-phase structure and contain only zinc oxide with a wurtzite structure. With a further increase in the impurity content of the nanomaterial, secondary In<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf>O<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> and InOOH phases appeared. A study of the chemical composition of the ZnO doped with In nanoparticles accepted the incorporation of In into the crystal lattice. The synthesized ZnO nanoparticles with controlled In content can create layers of the active elements of optoelectronics, sensor technology, flexible electronics, and solar cells third-generation.
