An Eight-Mode High Gain SIW Self-Multiplexing Antenna Array for Dual-Band Operation
A high-gain Eighth mode substrate Integrated Waveguide (EMSIW) self-diplexing antenna (SDA) array is presented in this communication. The antenna array comprises eight SDA elements placed appropriately in a (2x4) arrangement to radiate at 3.8 GHz and 4.29 GHz independently. A diagonal slot separates the quarter mode (QM) SIW cavity into two unequal EMSIW cavities. The EMSIW cavities are individually sourced by a microstrip feed line to form an independent frequency tunable EMSIW-based self-diplexing antenna. Two cross-four power divider is designed to feed power to SDA elements. An inter-port isolation of around 25 dB is obtained between the two feeding networks of the antenna array. A higher gain is achieved, 12.15 dBi and 12.89 dBi at the two operating frequencies 3.8 GHz and 4.29 GHz respectively with SIW EM self-diplexing antenna array (SIWEMSDAA). The antenna array is a single layer, has high gain with good isolation between the ports, and can be used for various high directive antenna gain applications.
