Justification for Transitioning Equipment to Direct Current for Smart Small Enterprises with Sustainable Solar Power Autonomy

In recent years, solar generation has been developing at a rapid pace, especially in the Asia-Pacific region. In rural areas where centralized power supply is poorly developed, there are many autonomous households and farms relying solely on solar generation. Research has shown that eliminating the inverter and using household appliances that operate on direct current can reduce energy consumption in an autonomous household by up to 30%. Implementing this approach in agriculture requires replacing the asynchronous alternating current drive with a direct current drive. However, this scenario is currently unlikely because the former is superior to the latter in terms of both efficiency and cost. Therefore, creating a direct current drive that matches the asynchronous drive in terms of efficiency and cost is a relevant task. To address this task, a design for a direct current motor with a winding-free rotor was developed. The new design does not have additional poles or compensating windings, and the armature reaction is limited by segmenting the magnetic system. Only one excitation winding is used for any number of poles. The armature and excitation windings are stationary, which allows the new design to use either a reversed mechanical commutator or an electronic commutator. Modeling and experimental studies have proven the feasibility of the new design and the effectiveness of limiting the transverse flux of the armature reaction by segmenting the magnetic system. The new design does not have pronounced poles, which allows increasing the rotor diameter and the magnitude of electromagnetic loads without changing the outer diameter of the stator. As a result, the motor's weight and cost decrease, while its efficiency increases. The results obtained suggest the economic feasibility of converting industrial equipment from alternating current to direct current in autonomous farms with solar generation.
