Path Loss Measurements in the 60 GHz Frequency Band in a Greenhouse

This study characterizes path loss in the 60 GHz band in a tomato greenhouse and reveals significant losses due to ambient and vegetation. The experimental results are compared to applicable propagation models, showing varying levels of correspondence and achieving a satisfactory theoretical description. The findings improve the understanding of millimeter wave propagation in agricultural environments, which can support 5G network deployments.

Abstract

This study characterizes path loss in the 60 GHz band in a tomato greenhouse and reveals significant losses due to ambient and vegetation. The experimental results are compared to applicable propagation models, showing varying levels of correspondence and achieving a satisfactory theoretical description. The findings improve the understanding of millimeter wave propagation in agricultural environments, which can support 5G network deployments.
