Current State and Future Prospects of Using SF6 Gas as an Insulation in the Electric Power Industry
In this article, the analysis of the possibilities of using elegas SF<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">6</inf> and its limitations in terms of harmful environmental impact is considered. Examples of the use of SF6 and its mixtures as gas insulation for electrical equipment are analyzed. Comparative characteristics of electrical strength for different insulating materials are given. The current environmental problems associated with the use of SF<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">6</inf> are analyzed and possible ways to overcome them are identified.
