Rain Attenuation at mmWave Using Visibility Data: A Case Study for Experimental Validation
Millimeter wave (mmWave) technology offers high data rates for 6G networks but is affected by rain. This paper evaluates a visibility-based method for estimating rain attenuation in mmWave links, using data from CEDA and DBSG-3 ITU-R. The model shows good agreement at 57 and 137 GHz, making it useful in locations with limited rain data but accessible visibility measurements, such as airports. Future work will focus on refining and expanding the model’s applicability.
