Applications of the extension of the method of images under low loss ground plane
The method of images is well-known in electromagnetic radiation problems, like currents on a metallic ground plane to replace the original problem. This paper extends the method of images to the case of a dipole antenna on a dielectric ground plane, like concrete, considering that from 1 GHz to 70 GHz is a low-loss dielectric material. The contribution of this paper is the model that expresses the electric and magnetic fields through the method of images for a dipole on a dielectric ground plane, for vertical and horizontal polarization for high frequencies mobile communications services. The impact of this extension of the method of images developed by W. G. Fano can be very important since many times statistical models are used with cost is tens of thousands of dollars, however here something much simpler and very low cost is proposed. Antennas over dielectric ground plane can be as well computed theoretically.
