Evaluating the Performance of UE-Side Sensing in Multistatic ISAC Systems for Highway Scenarios

This paper considers a distributed multiple OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing) radar system, which fuses multiple bistatic observations using downlink signals and one monostatic observation at the UE side to estimate the position of a single target on a highway. We study the impact of the base station locations along the highway for different target vehicle positions. To do this, we use the Cramr Rao bound (CRB) as a metric to evaluate the performance. From the analysis, we show that the inaccuracy in the longitudinal direction (along the road) is negligible, while the inaccuracy in the lateral direction is highly dependent on the base station placement.
