Channel utilization in the ISM 5 GHz band. Case study city of Ocaña, Colombia
5G technologies are critical for digital transformation, as they provide the connectivity needed to implement new communication solutions and connect a wide range of devices, including people, sensors, and machines. This can lead to channel congestion and decreased connection speed and quality. In addition, the 5 GHz ISM frequency band has a more limited range than other lower frequency bands. This can be a problem in environments where a long-distance wireless connection is required, such as in large buildings or university campuses. Efficient utilization of the channels in the 5 GHz band is essential to minimize interference and ensure optimal data transmission performance. However, this is not always possible due to the many devices and services sharing this frequency band. A study is conducted to establish the best frequency bands and best practices where the established standards are met for better efficiency in terms of channel utilization by service providers in the city.
