Patch Antenna for Microwave Thermal Therapy of Melanoma
This paper presents the design and validation of a compact patch antenna for microwave hyperthermia treatment of melanoma. Operating at 2.45 GHz, the antenna achieves a focused electric field, ensuring effective treatment of melanoma lesions with minimal impact on surrounding tissues. Simulations and experimental tests with a human phantom show compatibility with typical melanoma lesion sizes and confirm the design’s feasibility. The low-cost, easy-to-manufacture antenna is a promising tool for clinical use.
