Coexistence Studies Between 5G and TV Service in the 600 MHz Band in Colombia

5G technology goes one step beyond mobile connectivity by allowing far more devices to access the mobile internet at the same time, such as objects, sensors, vehicles, and machines. On the other side, to improve coverage in rural areas, in order to connect the unconnected and underconnected is a goal, and the second digital dividend is a way proposed to reach this goal. Considering that the 5G commercial is starting, it will be necessary to evaluate the impact for deploying 5G mobile networks in the 600MHz band, also known as the second digital dividend, which are one of the new bands. In this paper, the aim is to define the technical operating parameters that guarantee the coexistence and 5G systems deployment with the DTV service in the 600MHz band. The results have been obtained by laboratory measurements using professional and commercial equipment in a controlled environment. In fact, laboratory measures allowed to obtain Protection Ratios (PR), to ensure operation between 5G and DTV technologies, from co-channel to adjacent band
