Research on Switching Overvoltage Operation and Protection Configuration of Extra High Voltage Pumped Storage Power Station
With the changes in energy structure and the increasing pressure on environmental protection, the power grid in the new era has put forward higher demands for ultra-high voltage and extra high voltage substations and lines. Switching overvoltage is one of the criteria for determining the insulation level of power systems. In extra-high voltage power grids, switching overvoltage gradually plays a decisive role in the insulation selection of equipment. This study builds a simulation model of an extra-high voltage pumped storage power station in ATP-EMTP software, obtains the switching overvoltage waveforms of important nodes and corresponding protection devices in the system under different operating modes and protection configurations, studies the statistical characteristics of overvoltage, summarizes the main factors affecting switching overvoltage, and proposes corresponding methods to prevent excessive switching voltage and strategies to limit overvoltage in extra-high voltage power stations, providing reference for equipment protection and insulation coordination in pumped storage power stations.
