Location and Sizing Method for Multi-Type Charging Facilities including Ultra-Fast Charging

This paper addresses the optimization of multi-type electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities, focusing on both the siting and sizing of charging stations. The study begins with an analysis of EV user travel and charging behaviors, utilizing Monte Carlo simulations based on travel chain theory to forecast the spatiotemporal distribution of charging demands. An optimization model is developed, aiming to minimize the total cost of construction, operation, and grid expansion for charging station operators, while ensuring the safety and stability of the distribution network. The model incorporates constraints that consider the mutual influence of different types of charging facilities. The proposed method is validated through a case study in a geographic-distribution network coupled system in China. The results demonstrate the economic viability and effectiveness of the optimized configuration, highlighting its practical and theoretical significance in the deployment of EV charging infrastructure.
