Investigation of Hollow Glycerin Droplet Eccentric Impact on the Concave Obstacle and Indented Surface

The numerical analysis of the impact of a hollow droplet on a solid concave obstacle and a concave indented surface at various distances from the concave surface center is given. The volume of fluid (VOF) approach is used to simulate hollow impact using OpenFoam software. The Newtonian, incompressible, and laminar nature of the glycerin hollow droplet is assumed. The hollow droplet collision hydrodynamic behaviour and jet characteristics are studied. In all cases except case 3, a counter jet is created and deviates to the left. In cases 4 and 1, the greatest height and length were equal to 2.37 and 5.93 mm, respectively. On the concave obstacle surface, the jet fluid splashes up from the wall edge, but the jet fluid spread in the concave indented surface.
