IMPACT OF WILDLIFE PROTECTION LAWS ON THE JEWELLERY INDUSTRY AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON SOCIETY

This paper examines the impact of wildlife protection laws on the jewellery industry and their broader influence on society. It draws attention to the moral, ecological, and cultural issues surrounding the usage of materials like ivory, coral, and exotic skins that are obtained from animals in the making of jewelry. The report talks about how laws like the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 and global accords like CITES have forced designers to look for cruelty-free and ecological substitutes, causing major changes in industry standards. In addition to encouraging innovation in the jewelry industry, the shift to compliance with these laws has increased public awareness of animal welfare and biodiversity conservation.Furthermore, the paper explores the societal implications of these shifts, including the promotion of ethical consumerism and economic development in communities engaged in responsible sourcing.Ultimately, the findings suggest that while wildlife protection laws present challenges to traditional jewellery practices, they also serve as a catalyst for positive change, encouraging a more sustainable and conscientious approach to luxury consumption.
