Poetics of Writing-things in the Epic Works of I. D. Surguchev

The relevance of the research is related to the vagueness of the writing genre in literary criticism. Epistolography is genetically related to household correspondence, fiction and nonfiction, which is particularly reflected in the originality of the works based on letters. The genre-generic specificity of artistic epistolography is manifested in the psychologism of the narrative. The purpose of the article is to characterize the poetics of writing-things in the epic works of I. D. Surguchev, the genetics of artistic epistolography. The research methodology is based on fundamental anthropological works devoted to things as a subject of the research. The empirical material consists of more than 1,000 contexts from the epic and dramatic works of I. D. Surguchev. Results. The analysis of the formal and substantive aspects of the image of writing-things in the writer’s works proves the universality of the genre consciousness of the artist of the Modernist era and the transformational possibilities of traditional literary genres, where writing-things are involved in the creation of all levels of the work: the sphere of characters, plot, conflict, composition. Writing is a thing in the works of I. D. Surguchev functions as a special narrative code that solves the most difficult tasks at the level of poetics of the work: it “tears” a thing out of the main fabric of the secondary world; in the role of a decoder, a thing turns into a model of the world.
