Retrospective Analysis of Fallouts of Patients Undergoing Multi-visit Endodontic Therapy at a Tertiary Healthcare Center in District Nuh, India
ORIGINAL RESEARCHwith limited accessibility and availability of basic facilities, including oral health care services, higher rates of dental caries, lower dental care utilization, fewer dentists per population, and greater distances to travel to access care than urban populations. 5uh (previously known as Mewat) district is situated in the southwest part of Haryana, India, and has been declared the most backward district of India by NITI Aayog. 6 As per the 2011 census of Mewat District, around 88% of its total population belongs to rural areas with low socioeconomic status and a low female literacy rate (36.6%). 7In terms of standard of living, education, and health indices, Nuh lags way behind other districts of Haryana. 8Despite various administrative efforts, studies have shown a lack of utilization of different health services in this area. 9,10Shaheed IntroductIonOral health is an important part of general well-being that contributes to the overall fitness of a person.Poor oral hygiene not only deteriorates individual health but also acts as a significant risk factor for other systemic ailments, thus reducing economic productivity. 1The World Health Organization (WHO) considers oral diseases culminating in tooth loss a serious public health problem. Therefore, tooth preservation is the goal of modern dental care.Root canal therapy (RCT) is an efficacious therapeutic modality to retain teeth. 2 According to the American Association of Endodontists (AAE), RCT is a dental procedure indicated for the treatment of damaged or infected teeth with irreversible pulpal pathology. The signs and symptoms of pulpal damage may vary in their presentation, such as pain, thermal sensitivity, change in tooth color, and swelling in the gums. The goal of RCT is accomplished by thorough disinfection of the root canal space through adequate biomechanical cleaning and shaping.Later, obturation of the root canal is done to achieve a tight seal, followed by a good coronal restoration to rule out any possibility of reinfection. This whole procedure may either be carried out in multiple visits or in a single visit, as per the case, to maintain the sterility of the root canal. 3n developing countries like India, there is a vast difference in oral health status between urban and rural populations, with massive disparities in access to quality care in rural areas.4 The rural population is considered disadvantaged and socially marginalized,
