Sustained evaluation of AIS satellite reception channels (CH75, 76) via ALOS-2/SPAISE2 for assessing the economic viability of maritime satellite communications
This study provides a comprehensive evaluation of the adoption and performance of the newly established AIS channels, CH75 and CH76, over a decade. Using empirical data, we demonstrate that these channels have progressively enhanced data collection capabilities in congested maritime areas. While the findings show a notable improvement in the effectiveness of satellite constellations through the use of these new channels, they also highlight the need for ongoing refinement to fully optimize their performance.
