An experiment of improving accuracy of clock recovery on free space optical communications by initial wavefront multiplexing multibeam method
In free space optical communications, receiving light intensity fluctuated by atmospheric turbulence leads temporal signal distortion and increase of the bit error rate. For stable communications, a multibeam transmission is one of the effective solutions. In this study, we verify the effectiveness of the initial wavefront multiplexing multibeam method, by focusing on the amount of time jitter of the clock wave measured through optical path in turbulent environment. The experiment shows that the time jitter is decreased with the initial wavefront multiplexing multibeam method and indicates that this scheme has the effect to reduce the influence of atmospheric turbulence on optical communications system.
