Constant Switching Frequency Hysteresis Controllers Technique for Grid Integrated Voltage Source Inverter

The use of renewable energy can help reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and lower our carbon footprint. To utilize the renewable energy efficiently it must be connected to grid. But the grid integration of renewable energy is a complex process that requires careful planning and coordination. A PWM VSI plays a critical role in the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid by regulating the voltage, frequency, and reactive power of the output power and ensuring the stability and reliability of the electric grid. In recent decades, there has been a significant focus on the development of current controllers. specially hysteresis band controllers have been a significant step forward in the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid because this type of controller is simple to implement and has fast dynamic response, making it well-suited for applications that require quick and accurate current control, such as renewable energy systems. This paper aims to develop a hysteresis current controller with a constant switching frequency characteristic, utilizing the indirect current control approach for a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) Voltage Source Inverter (VSI). The design and simulation are carried out using MATLAB-Simulink software.
