Cloud-Enabled Voice Control for Home Appliances: A Secure and Accessible IoT Approach
This paper presents the development of voice command-based home appliances using the Internet of Things (IoT) technology. This system has been designed not only to assist elderly and disabled people at home but also to provide contactless control of household appliances. Cloud-based voice services have been used as voice recognition and process the voice input from the smartphone. In this work, the voice input has been captured by the Android and will be sent to ESP32. ESP32 is a feature-rich system-on-a-chip (SoC) device with integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for a wide range of Internet of Things (IoT) applications. This enables our model to control smart devices remotely using its Bluetooth or Wi-Fi module. Additionally, depending solely on voice control and internet connectivity can present difficulties, especially during network outages or connectivity problems. To tackle this issue, a reliable backup-secured system has been developed to guarantee continuous access and control, even when internet connectivity is unavailable. This backup-powered multiaccess authentication system makes the model well-secured, reliable and distinct. The proposed system is intended to devise an affordable hardware prototype that controls electrical appliances remotely with a secure and relatively user-friendly interface.
