Design and Development of ROV to Monitor Keel of The Ship
Monitoring ship keels for rust-induced damage is typically done manually. This paper involves the design of a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) capable of diving to 50 meters and withstanding 70 psi with features like plug-and-play usability, onboard cameras with specialized lighting for damage detection, and efficient maneuverability with BLDC thrusters. The proposed ROV system has been interfaced with Raspberry Pi 4B and rigorous testing was conducted to analyze its effective performance for video analysis and data transmission. The results demonstrated that the proposed ROV design has significant potential for monitoring keel of the ship, identification of cracks and damages on the ship's main structure.
