Modernization of Guinean Agriculture through SDR and IoT for Enhanced Connectivity and Monitoring in Rural Areas

This study presents an innovative approach to modernize Guinean agriculture through the integration of SDR (Software-Defined Radio) and IoT (Internet of Things) technologies. Addressing connectivity challenges in rural areas, where only 34% of the population uses the Internet, we propose an architecture combining a 5G network based on SDR with environmental sensors for agricultural monitoring. Our imple-mentation utilizes the USRP B210 for radio functions, Docker containers for the 5G network core, and a Grafana visual-ization platform for real-time monitoring. Experimental results demonstrate the technical and economic viability of this solution, providing effective monitoring of temperature and humidity and stable connectivity for agricultural applications. This approach paves the way for precision agriculture adapted to the context of developing countries.
