Four Port Wideband MIMO Antenna For MM-Wave 5G Application

The paper presents a new 4-port MIMO antenna array for 5G communication in the mm-wave band operating at 36 GHz and 41 GHz frequencies. The array of MIMO antenna has four MIMO elements with a defected ground plane, that could help to improve its performance in terms of radiation pattern, isolation, and other metrics. The antenna is designed on an FR4 and has a compact physical footprint of 40 mm x 40 mm x 1.6 mm3, potentially a suitable solution for applications where space is limited. The proposed MIMO antenna array design will be used in the high band 5G applications. The design includes circular and semicircular slots in the patch components as well as an extended circular- shaped flaw in the cross-shaped ground plane, which contributes to improved impedance matching, increased gain, and bandwidth. A high gain of roughly 6.9 dB and 2.2 dB at 36GHz and 41GHz, respectively, is provided by the suggested MIMO setup. Isolation, diversity (DG), envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) aid total active reflection coefficient (TARC) are among the performance metrics of the suggested MIMO system that are examined and reported.
