Improving the Effectiveness of the Active Constellation Extension Method to Reduce the PAPR of OFDM Signals on DVB-T2
DVB-T2 is the second-generation standard for digital terrestrial television offers significant advantages compared to DVB-T. Correspondingly, DVB-T2 offers more multiplexing options with orthogonal frequency channel division (OFDM) and modulation schemes. However, the current disadvantage is high Peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). To avoid this drawback, tone reservation (TR), active constellation extension (ACE) methods have been used. However, these methods have their own limitations. In this paper, a method is proposed to improve the peak reduction efficiency of the existing method in DVB-T2. The effectiveness of the proposed method is evaluated by simulation on MATLAB, the proposed method reduces the PAPR from 13.2 dB to 6.8 dB in 4K DVB-T2 (the reduction is 6.4 dB), while the average power does not increase significantly.
