Systematic Study on System Design, Sensing, and Control of Orthopedic Surgical Robots
Orthopedic surgical robots have revolutionized the landscape of modern surgery, offering unprecedented precision and efficiency. Technological advancements make these robots increasingly important in performing complex surgical procedures. This review focuses on the critical technological facets of orthopedic surgical robots: system design, sensing technologies, and control techniques. We examine how innovative system designs have led to the creation of more adaptive and reliable robotic frameworks. Cutting-edge sensing technologies provide enhanced accuracy and situational awareness, which are crucial for performing delicate operations with minimal invasiveness. Advanced control methods are explored for their role in ensuring seamless interaction and precise movement during surgery. Despite notable advancements, issues such as enhancing the natural interaction between robotic systems and surgeons, as well as improving the precision and accuracy of sensors, remain prevalent. The review highlights current trends and future directions in orthopedic surgical robotics. It enhances understanding of existing capabilities and aim to improve surgical outcomes in orthopedic care.
