Effect of Lead Lock Tape Mirror tool (LLT) towards machine performance & yield
This technical paper title is "Effect of Lead Lock Tape (LLT) Mirror-like surface parts towards machine performance & yield." One of the critical challenges faced by LLT process is the tape residue formation. Tape residue formation is a defect whereby there is an excess tape adhesive film that falls and sticks on the frame (falling material) due to abrasion between tape and parts surface during the lead lock tape punching process. As corrective action for tape residue formation, the part surface for the LLT process must be in mirror condition which reduces the abrasion effect between the tape edges and tool’s punch and die surface. This technical paper aims to provide better perspective in LLT parts mirror-like surface condition that can affect the machine performance & yield. The study was conducted by varying roughness, Ra value of the LLT part’s surface. As response, the machine performance & yield is evaluated by the LLT machine automated visual inspection (AVI) & lead frame automated optical inspection (AOI). The outcome shows that the mirror-like condition of the tool’s parts plays a vital role in the machine performance & process yield. This paper focuses on the importance of controlling mirror-like tool’s parts condition to improve the machine performance & process yield of LLT process.
