A Method for Adaptive Control of the Overhead Crane Drive to Dampen Cargo Oscillation
In this paper, we address the issue of load oscillation damping during crane trolley movement. Fluctuations in the load can lead to equipment wear and damage, reducing the safety and efficiency of crane operations. To mitigate this, we propose an adaptive control system for the crane bridge drive, comprising a reference trajectory generator, an adaptor, an identifier, and a regulator. The reference trajectory generator defines the desired cargo path. The adaptor and identifier diagnose the oscillation parameters, while the regulator produces control signals to dampen these oscillations. Numerical experiments conducted in MATLAB Simulink using a "cart-pendulum" model demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed approach in reducing load oscillations, thereby enhancing the lifespan of the electric crane drive. These findings can aid in the development of control systems for overhead cranes, improving their reliability and safety, and reducing maintenance and repair costs.
