Aerodrome and human requirements and limitations to supersonic aircraft
Abstract Supersonic transportation is a trend in civil aviation. Related technologies are continuously breaking through. However, current interests are focused on supersonic aircraft configurations, engines, and noise impact. Scarce research has been conducted on the operation requirements and restrictions within civil aviation. This article analyzes the applicability of supersonic aircraft from the perspective of their usage, taking into account the viewpoints of aerodromes, pilots, and passengers. It offers insights into both the operational limitations and new requirements that aerodrome physical facilities and operation procedures impose on aircraft. Furthermore, it examines the impact of current supersonic design configurations on pilots and passengers. Preliminary analysis indicates that the Blended Wing Body (BWB) configuration has a reduced impact on aerodromes and, in terms of design, can accommodate a greater number of passengers.
