Experimental study on the fireproof properties of electrical connectors
Abstract This study examines the fireproof capabilities of electrical connectors, specifically focusing on their performance under flame impact conditions. The research reveals critical failure points, including the connections between electrical connectors and cables, as well as the carbonization of insulation materials. Notably, connectors utilizing PSU-based insulation materials demonstrated remarkable resilience, withstanding a five-minute flame test, although they ultimately succumbed to carbonization. Specifically, connectors lasted for 2 minutes and 10 seconds without a firewall and up to 5 minutes and 38 seconds with a firewall. The findings offer valuable insights for enhancing the fireproof reliability and airworthiness compliance of aircraft engine components.
