Transport numbers of polyion and counterion for aqueous dispersions of TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanofibers
Abstract The electric conductivity for aqueous dispersions of 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl radical (TEMPO)-mediated oxidized cellulose nanofiber sodium salt (NaTOCN) was investigated to clarify the transport number of polyion TOCN− and counterion Na+. The transport number of TOCN− for NaTOCN with high aspect ratio was determined to be 0.84, suggesting that most of the electrical transport is due to the migration of polyions.
