Oxygen transport in pulsatile non-Newtonian fluid through a stenosed artery

This paper explores non-Newtonian fluid flow and the transport of oxygen through a stenosed artery. The Casson fluid model was used to describe the pulsatile blood flow within the artery, whereas the oxygen transport was modeled using a convection-diffusion equation with suitable initial and boundary conditions. An analytical solution for the axial flow velocity was obtained based on the regular perturbation technique, then the finite element method was used to solve the nonlinear convection-diffusion equation to compute the local oxygen concentration. The impact of yield stress, Schmidt number, Womersley frequency parameter, maximum stenosis height, and pressure fluctuating parameter was investigated for the axial velocity, wall shear stress, local concentration, and average Sherwood number.
