Action for cognitive biases in clinical decision-making
Clinical practice demands quick and accurate decision-making. However, these decisions are susceptible to cognitive biases, and clinicians need to be open to the possibility of biased thinking. Actions to address cognitive biases are needed in practice and through education to continuously increase clinicians’ insight and understanding and enable the application of interventions. This article identifies and explains biases in clinical decision-making, discusses debiasing interventions for use by clinicians, and proposes research directions.
