TEGAL REGENCY RELIGIOUS HARMONY INDEX 2024: STRENGTHENING RELIGIOUS REGULATIONS

Religious harmony at regional level is actually the key to maintaining religious harmony at the national level. Therefore, religious harmony at the regency level needs to have valid data for various purposes of mitigating religious conflicts and handling them. One of the purposes is by measuring the religious harmony index in Tegal Regency. By using a survey method in four sub-districts with a high level of religious plurality (Adiwerna Sub-district, Slawi Sub-district, Kramat Sub-district and Pangkah Sub-district), it can be seen that the index of religious harmony in the dimensions of religious tolerance is 3.29, equality of religious rights is 3.34, inter-religious cooperation is 3.39 and government regulatory support is 3.29 with a measurement scale of 1-4. However, this study also shows the ripples of horizontal conflict related to the permit to establish a house of worship of the Catholic church in Adiwerna Subdistrict. Of course, this is the data that needs to be elaborated and parsed for stakeholders in Tegal Regency. It was also revealed that the classic issue of saying happy feast day among religious communities became another part of the problem of religious harmony that needed to be mitigated and accompanied by strengthening literacy about religious moderation.
