Influence of bianisotropic chirality on modal propagation in optical fiber
This article delves into the influence of bianisotropic chirality, with a particular focus on LiNbO₃ material, on the propagation modes in an asymmetrical optical fiber featuring a bi-isotropic magnetic chiral core. By numerically solving the dispersion equations through the Newton-Raphson method, the study provides an in-depth analysis of the fiber's propagation behavior. The results demonstrate that increasing the chirality parameter of the core significantly enhances the propagation constants of the modes while slightly lowering their cutoff frequencies. This adjustment allows the fundamental mode to carry a larger portion of the transmitted energy, improving the energy distribution within the fiber. The findings highlight the critical role of chirality in optimizing optical fiber performance. Enhanced propagation properties can lead to improved efficiency in data transmission and sensing capabilities. Moreover, the research underscores the potential of leveraging chirality in fiber design to achieve better performance in telecommunications and other advanced optical technologies. This study contributes to the development of innovative fiber systems with broader applications and greater functionality in next-generation networks and devices.
