Spatial Audio Solutions for Outdoor Mobility of the Visually Impaired
Navigational challenges that arise for the visually impaired occur due to tools designed with an orientation toward the healthy sight, which impacts accessibility, safety, and autonomy. This research study presents a wearable navigation system that depends on spatial audio cues and voice-controlled navigation through combining real-time geolocation technologies including Ola Maps API and ultrasonic sensors for detecting potential obstacles. The system aims to identify locations accurately in addition to alerting the users for potential obstacles as well as storing significant locations for speedy access. Designed in a head-cap format, the gadget integrates the promises of usability, portability, and independence for users in diverse environments. Unlike the traditional navigation devices using tactile feedback, our approach used spatial audio to give a natural and immersive experience for the users. Existing solutions do not enable the dynamic adaption to the preferences of the user or save frequently visited locations-an essential feature in our system.
