UAV Trajectory Planning for Wireless Data Acquisition: A Bernstein-Polynomial Approach

Wireless data acquisition, characterized by its flex-ibility and low cost, is optimized by Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV s) due to their efficiency and versatility. In this paper, we propose a Bernstein-polynomial approach for the UAV wireless data acquisition problem. Firstly, we propose a trajectory gener-ation algorithm that can generate flight trajectory based on the UAV's take-off and landing points and the positions of the sensors. Secondly, we investigate the flight trajectory and communication performance to prove that the UAV wireless data acquisition system's maximum data transmission rate has a non-zero lower bound. Finally, the results from simulations indicate that the pro-posed trajectory planning approach can generate flight trajectory with shorter lengths and smoother curvatures than spline curves, and the theoretical analysis provides reasonable lower bound for the maximum data transmission rate.
